Counselling

A warm welcome to the Kings Cross Project Counselling Service.

I would like to introduce you to our counselling team. My name is Michelle Oultram, the Adult Counselling Co-ordinator. Our team consists of 5 qualified counsellors and 13 trainee counsellors working towards their Diploma in Counselling. Everyone gives their services voluntarily.

The counsellors come from a variety of professional backgrounds: social work, health, education, youth and community work. What each counsellor has in common, however, is the belief in and respect for the person being counselled.

We offer our counselling service to the adults within the local community.

Many people find it difficult to talk to a complete stranger about very personal issues, and the thought of receiving counselling can be very daunting. I would like to explain what counselling is about.

The aim of counselling is to provide an opportunity to explore and talk about what is on your mind and to try and help you understand yourself.

Areas Covered in Couselling

If you relate to any of these issues and feel that you would benefit from counselling the first thing to do is contact our office on 0151 420 4905.

You do not need to be referred to use our counselling service. There is currently a waiting list of approximately 6 weeks.

When you ring you will be asked to provide your name, address and contact telephone number, how you heard about the service, and a brief reason for requiring counselling. You will not be asked any more personal details at this stage. A counsellor will then make an appointment directly with you.
