A warm welcome to the Kings Cross Project Counselling Service.
I would like to introduce you to our counselling team. My name is Michelle Oultram, the Adult Counselling Co-ordinator. Our team consists of 5 qualified counsellors and 13 trainee counsellors working towards their Diploma in Counselling. Everyone gives their services voluntarily.
The counsellors come from a variety of professional backgrounds: social work, health, education, youth and community work. What each counsellor has in common, however, is the belief in and respect for the person being counselled.
We offer our counselling service to the adults within the local community.
Many people find it difficult to talk to a complete stranger about very personal issues, and the thought of receiving counselling can be very daunting. I would like to explain what counselling is about.
The aim of counselling is to provide an opportunity to explore and talk about what is on your mind and to try and help you understand yourself.
- Provide a quiet and confidential environment for those who have worries, anxieties, concerns or problems
- Enable you to talk openly about yourself and your feelings without being judged
- Help you to focus on ways to manage your difficulties
- Help you to realise you are capable of bringing about change
