Hello, welcome to the Kings Cross Project's Teenage Pregnancy Counselling Service. My name is Bill Clarke, I am a fully qualified and experienced counsellor and I co-ordinate this service.
About the service
The service is currently funded by Halton NHS Primary Care Trust as part of the Teenage Pregnancy Strategy. The service is thus aimed at young women and men aged thirteen to twenty. The service intends to empower young people with choice and to inform them of their options.
Our counselling therapeutic service offers:
- Informal assessment.
- Individuals or couples to be given an opportunity to explore issues and feelings that will have an effect on their future.
- Support to explore and develop an understanding of the changes that a child brings to our lives.
- Sign posting to other services that offer support to young parents.
- Post termination counselling.
- An outreach service that allows young people to feel comfortable and safe in an environment that they feel familiar with.
Issues dealt with in counselling:
- Teenage Pregnancy
- Termination
- Adoption
- Life as a young parent
- Relationship issues
- Depression
- Post Natal Depression
- Crisis and stressful situations
- Physical and sexual abuse
We aim to provide a service that allows a young person to access counselling at any time during their pregnancy and also offer a service after the birth or termination if any problems arise.
